Dr Julia Smith

Dr Julia Smith completed her dental degree from the University of Otago graduating in 2011 with distinction. She worked as a maxillofacial house surgeon at Hutt Valley hospital before working in private practice in Auckland.

Prior to returning to New Zealand to undertake her specialist training, Julia worked for Align Technology at their European HQ in the Netherlands. She managed a team of clinical advisers for central and eastern Europe, responsible for training orthodontists on Invisalign.

Julia completed her specialist orthodontic training at the University of Otago in 2021. Her area of research interest is clear aligner therapy. She has presented about this topic at the Australian Orthodontic congress and most recently at the New Zealand Orthodontic conference in 2023.
